Oil on masonite board. Signed “Arthur V. Diehl 1923” in the lower left. Diehl (1870-1929) was an Englishman who emigrated to the United States in 1891 and had studios throughout New England and in St. Augustine, Florida. His artwork and his personality were both extrovert. This scene shows a European harbor, probably Venice, with gondolas and orange tiled roof buildings.
